| I'm wondering if there is a need for a posted site where people that are banned from the OBC connect for a period of time can have there access info up for continued contact with them. There was an argument made that our banning was similar to the OBC shunning.
I think maintaining an avenue were people can continue to communicate with the banned folks would answer some of that argument. Obviously this would be offered to those who are banned when the banning comes into effect and they can be asked if they want to be included on this listing or not.
It could be called the ( deleted term ) listings// or the time out corner// or the penalty box// or the not ready for prime time// or lise's living room ban or whatever. It could just have -the name of the banned person, the length of time of the ban, the reason for the ban and the contact info to reach them. It could also have a limited space for their explanation, defence or comments about the ban.
Anyway...Wondering what people thought of it.

| I thought OBC Connect was a place where those banned by the OBC could tell their stories. Now we're talking about a special place for those [deleted word] persons who are banned from OBC Connect? Maybe I'm missing something here . . . | |

| Henryyyyy. You out there buddy??? It was only with deepest respect that I didn't call this posting the "Henry Hole". Let us know if you are still in the slammer.
I had hoped that folks would want some system by which we would know if our postings and pms were going to get to a person, what the consequences might be for repeatedly crossing the OBC guidelines for using (deleted terms) & making potentially litigious accusations, and to give a transparency to our actions that we've accused the other OBC'ers of not doing.
Carol I think no one is limited in giving there story here save the potty talk (my personal difficulty) and making libellous accusations. The OBC connect guidelines are pretty obvious and apply to all equally. There are plenty of other WWF sites with no such restrictions or one without litigious fears can set up and maintain a site of their own choosing. Blue language issues aside, I think its unfair to expect Lise to assume a litigious burden that the rest of us are unwilling to shoulder.

| Hello All,
Henry is not banned. He had a one-day suspension that expired a week ago Sunday. As a general rule I don't think we will publicise bans as this is invasive to privacy, however: any Admin can look up the Admin log and see who was suspended/banned/etc. and for how long. If you are worried about someone in particular, please contact an Admin via PM and we will tell you privately "suspended until X date" or "no, not suspended, still active".
The last permanent ban happened about six months ago, for porn-spam. We have had two other permanent bans, from posters who put up the equivalent of hate speech about gays and also gratuitous sexual comments.
We're working on a set of guidelines to make clear why someone would be suspended and for how long. It's been a "three strikes" policy for the most part, except for porn spam which is one strike.
To give some perspective, we have had fewer than six suspensions/bans since the forum began in Nov. '09.
thanks, Lise | |

| And thanks Howard, I appreciate the support re: litigation exposure. It is not a small matter for me, and regardless of how much I feel dedicated to making this forum available, I will not expose myself to that risk for any member. If he or she is willing to purchase an insurance policy perhaps, for my benefit, or pledge other collateral in a sum of my choosing, maybe we'll talk --

Regarding Henry as Lise noted he was never banned. If anyone wishes to contact him send me a PM with your email address (and short message if you wish) and I will forward it to him.

| Thanks for that Isan
But I must be missing something!
As he was only suspended for one day, why would one go through the extra step of contacting him by going through yourself instead of just pm-ing him the usual way?
Cheers | |

Cheers Good point. I should have added that I believe he's taking a hiatus from the forum. Among other things he mentioned his workload increasing and feeling like he didn't have the energy to invest here, but of course he may show up at any moment You can always PM him and see if he collects your message.
