Time Magazine - cover in all countries but the U.S.

what the?  Why is this not in the U.S. also?  time to employ some Google-fu . . .

The NY Times today has an excellent exploration of the Buddhist oppression of the Muslim minority in Myanmar. It's pretty shocking that the Time cover appears everywhere except the US. What do you suppose ?

With Time Magazine, the international cover is often different than the American cover / lead story.  In the U.S., this cover about Burma would not sell well on the magazine stands... what sells here is much more geared towards U.S. issues, health, and dead celebrities.  But as we know, these news magazines are slowly fading into obscurity - Newsweek is gone except for a web presence and Time is getting smaller and smaller and more web based.

I tend to take a more conspiratorial view -- perhaps the wealthy supporters of the Dhali Lama had something to do with its absence from the American version.
