Chill Bill! Clinton Turns To Meditation For Enlightenment & Stress Relief
Posted on Aug 02, 2012 @ 11:30AM

By Jon Boon - Radar Reporter

Bill Clinton’s health kick has hit spiritual heights – as well as getting his body into shape he is also concentrating on his inner wellbeing, embracing Buddhist meditation as a means to achieving greater enlightenment and stress relief, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The 65-year-old former President, who has been plagued by medical issues for years and recently turned vegan, likes to unwind in private classes as he learns the art of meditation with the help of a Buddhist monk.

And Bill loves meditating because it helps him stay focused and calm.

“Ever since his heart scare, Bill has looked for ways to help him relax,” a source said.

“He has a hectic life, he travels a lot on business as an ambassador for the U.S. and needs something to keep him sane.

“Meditation offers him that, he has a mantra that he likes to chant and after every session he feels transformed and full of positive energy.

“It’s definitely doing him the world of good – he feels fitter and stronger than ever,” the source revealed.

Clinton’s health problems have been well documented over the years. In September 2004, he received a quadruple bypass surgery. Then, just a year later, Clinton underwent surgery for a partially collapsed lung. And in February 2004, the Arkansas-born politician was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City after complaining of chest pains. That resulted in two coronary stents being implanted in his heart.

After his various health scares, Clinton decided to quit his famed omnivore diet of hamburgers, steaks, chicken enchiladas, barbecue and french fries. In 2010, he revealed in an interview with CNN he had become vegan and was living off vegetables, fruit and beans. He confessed that he also allows himself to eat fish.

Bill's interest in spiritual enlightenment has played a part in his life for years, and he has stated that his favorite book is Marcus Aurelius' Meditations. Aurelius was the Roman Emperor from 161–180 AD, and the book is a collection of his personal writings setting forth his ideas in Stoic philosophy. The central theme of Meditations is "to analyze your judgement of self and others and developing a cosmic perspective."
