PostSubject: Daniel Ingram, DharmaOverground, BuddhaInteractive, and Dan's book   Daniel Ingram, DharmaOverground, BuddhaInteractive, and Dan's book Empty12/25/2011, 1:02 am

I recently bumped into Daniel Ingram on the web. I have not met him and I am NOT promoting him, nor am I here to evaluate in depth his approach, but I find him quite fascinating. I appreciate wild, independent thinkers and visionaries.

Dan is an MD and a longtime serious practitioner of mindfulness / Vipassana. He is very forthright ("hard core"), says clearly that he is an arahat, and goes into great detail on meditation stages and experiences. He has strong opinions about what works and what doesn't and is very critical of dogma. He refers to his work as "pragmatism over dogmatism, diligent practice over blind faith, openness regarding what the techniques may lead to, a lack of taboos surrounding talking about attainments, and the spirit of mutual, supportive adventurers on the path rather than rigid student-teacher relationships."

His main website includes a full book you can download for free as well as numerous essays.

His main website: http://www.interactivebuddha.com/

You can find his book here: http://www.interactivebuddha.com/mctb.shtml

His other website where there are on-line discussions: www.dharmaoverground.org

Videos of Dan Ingram speaking at Cheetah House (Brown University): there are three videos - this is the link to the first one: http://vimeo.com/28182419

Also, Dan has been a guest on the webcast program Buddhist Geeks a bunch of times -- so you can download those through iTunes. I have not heard them.
