[Admin note: the posts below were split from another thread in order to give more visibility to John's introductory post.]

I feel I should introduce myself as I have been sat at the back here for some time.
My name is John Bamford and I have been with the OBC for about twenty years now
In fact twenty years in June of this year, its not a date that I am likely to forget.
I have been practicing steadily ever since,if you can call two steps forward and one back steady practise.

It has been quite an education to hear of the problems that alot of people have encountered in the OBC.
I wish you all well and trust that you will not think badly of all of us in the OBC.
Perhaps here in Telford we are too far away from the centre of power to attract so much controversy.
Thank you once again for letting me hear your histories,I will not be bothering you too much in the future
as typing anything this long causes terrible stress to the one finger that does all the work, the left index tries to help but it is more trouble than it's worth
Peace and Cake
John Bamford.

John Bamford.

Good you to meet you John. Since it sounds like your experience has been mostly positive it would be interesting to know more about how you perceive the negative stories that many tell here. Perhaps you can find a way around the typing difficulty, such as speech recognition/transcription software.

Note that Lise may move your post and create a new introduction thread.

Cheers!

John,
The Buddha said (I hope I'm pretty close on this) that if a teaching or practice increased your compassion and insight then that practice is good for you to continue. I find this advice extremely good. And since this seems to be the case for you, I have no reason to think badly of you (actually I wouldn't think badly of you anyway). For those of us whose experience in the OBC was less unambiguous, I would ask the same of you: I hope you don't think badly of us.

Hope to see you sticking your nose in here on occasion.

Thank you for the warm welcome to OBC Connect.
Isan ask's about how I see the negative stories here, well you are all telling
your own experiences . This is how you have seen the OBC to be I was not
there when you folks were, my story is different but that doesn't mean that
you are wrong or dont have the right to tell your story. I am sure most
organizations benefit from a good shake up, and I think that you have done
that!
Peace and cake.
