A toast to those who are cooking
because I am not
But I will pour drinks and carry snack trays, and do the washing-up for my hosts.
For once I am surrounded by other vegetarians and here is our (vegan) menu:
- A spicy tofu and seitan stroganoff
- brown rice and amaranth pilaf
- braised carrots and green beans with tarragon mustard
- garlicky mashed potatoes with miso gravy
- mixed greens salad with strawberries, walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette
- cornbread and jalapeno stuffing
- homemade sourdough bread
- two kinds of pie and a tofu cheesecake
I'm out of breath just writing that down.
